Amber Mawson - RMT, BKin

Amber graduated from the University of Calgary in 2001 with a Kinesiology degree, major in Outdoor Pursuits. After working several years in outdoor/environment education, she decided to pursue her interest in the human body further. This interest lead her to the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in British Columbia where she completed the 3000 hour massage therapy program.

After graduating, the call of the mountains lured her to the Bugaboo Lodge in the Selkirk Mountains of Interior BC where she worked as a massage therapist for heli-skiers and ski-guides. Amber has now been working in Calgary for over a year with various healthcare practitioners. She enjoys working with the physiotherapists, pedorthist, dietician and doctor at THE Downtown Sports Clinics because the team approach to treatment provides more comprehensive and thorough care. Currently, Amber’s greatest areas of interest are chronic shoulder and back pain, sports massage and temporomandibular joint pain.

Amber's treatments are a blend of trigger point release, myofascial release, passive stretching, and lymph drainage. After a treatment, she likes to give homecare activities to support the work done on the table, and encourages clients to develop a more conscious awareness of their bodies.
